Satirical Accolade

by Debbie   May 22, 2007

May the azure that lingers
around thine eyes be as blue
as the cerulean sky's hue,
and golden locks caressed
lovingly by the wind
stay fair and dazzling
as the magnificent sun.
May lips be as thin and lean
as to one which utters no sham
masked by scarlet's dew, and

Perhaps the roseate roses
deepen in cheeks of cherry
as thy smile remains
radiant as thine soul.

Yet as touch is as cold
as the winter's snow,
I shall shudder and cry
in contemptuous fear.
For 'tis in willful, wicked feats,
like silent snickering of demons,
I find thee most charming...

What a lovely scoundrel you are, darling!
Indeed, indeed, in morbid deeds...

-An old draft.

Breathtaking free-style poem. A very gentle and calming read. There's nothing more I can say. Wonderful job

Very nice. I enjoyed the old diction. I tend to stick to contemporary language so this was refreshing for me. I did enjoy the alliteration particularly on the last three lines of the third stanza.
The first line of the ending couplet left me unsure. Maybe scoundrel would still be as powerful, if not more so without the punctuation, and darling isn't completely needed there I feel.
    Lovely write.

    ...And, ah!
    Perhaps the roseate roses
    deepen in cheeks of cherry
    as thy smile remains
    radiant as thine soul.
[[If you take my breath away again, girl, I'm going to have to sue and make /you/ pay the doctor bills!]]

What a lovely [scoundrel] you are, darling!
    ...Indeed, indeed; in morbid deeds.
    [[That's it! I'm sueing!]]
[[But seriously, I love this line beacause of the {scoundrel} part; it makes it Perfect.]]

You, my dear, are an absolute amazing writer. If you want to read my poetry and give me tips, I'd be honoured. I'd love to write like this.
Now. Again, you stole my breath and threw it out the window carelessly. Shame on you. This was such a gorgeous poem. You are a brilliant writer.

And maybe contest when I get the chance.
