Blue Devils

You have not been missed,
so why show up now when
I am no longer capable to
fight. My limbs are numb,
my mind is racing, you know
how to keep hold of me.

Let go! I beg you..

You make it hard to breathe,
hard to live, and even hard to
understand. Why do you visit
when I am nearly standing,
do you wish me to jump off?

You introduced me to insanity,
drained my head of all the colors
i once knew existed. I can no
longer see in the shadows you
cast right in front of me. I can
no longer live tied like a broken
marionette. Hand me the knife
let me find an empty space on
my skin to mark yet another
visit from you!

Such a deep poem, I really felt this one.

Depression is so hard to get through when it will not let go of you, you have described its grip so well, and the affects it leaves on you.

The desperation for freedom here is evident, and you even set a line out which shows you begging, this was really powerful and emphasised how desperate you are.

The ending is really powerful, mentioning the knife to mark the skin to show the presence of this depression.

I think this poem works so well because it can be relating to the depression, or it could also be interpreted as being under a person's grip, someone who is bad for you, yet keeps coming back into your life.

    Great title choice too.
Nice to read your work again :)
