Scared Little Girl

by deeplydesturbed   Jul 14, 2016

Outside I'm brave, I have a solid heart
Walls that will never be broken.
Inside I'm crying, afraid
mentally unstable, words left unspoken.

All these years you've stood by
watched me destroy my life, cut myself.
Over and over hurting you,
yet you still sit me high up on the shelf.

I could never understand why you waited
for me to be ready.
I guess your heart chose for you,
Every time I listen to it, it's beating unsteadily.

After every session, you whisper to me
words full of promise and love.
Every single time I just lay there listening
Waiting for a sign from above.

Outside looking in,
I'm average, living in an average world..
Inside looking out,
I will always be a scared little girl.

N this is truly sad that because of things that have happened you cannot let this person in fully though they know more than you dare to admit they do. It's hard when things happen that shape how we see our futures and people on it.

The only thing I'd change here is the last line.. I'd swap always and will around so it reads I will always be a scared little girl, it just seems to make more sense that way.
