Little China Doll

by manic moments   Feb 8, 2008

Little china doll, lying on your bed
A treasured lost memento inside your head
A whimper, a memory, a never-will-I-forget
With a firm nod, your mind had been set

You played with that doll, night and day
You remember the times you stayed out of the way
A little shadow when mummy and daddy would fight
A scared little girl running to turn out the light

That doll is your choice, your right and your wrong
The ending, the middle and beginning of your song
The one that kept you here, begging you to stay
Making sure mummy and daddy would find you the next day

The little china doll, listening to your heart
Hearing all the little things that make you fall apart
She held your hand and let you cry
Never letting the end to come by

With the tattered little china doll lying so very still
The memories rise up and begin to spill
The time you tried to end it all
And couldn't take that last fall

The day you made yourself bleed so bad
That you spent the week hiding it from mum and dad
Staying in your room, holding on tight
To that little china doll, night after night

With the china smile getting a little rough
Hadn't that china doll been through enough?
To see you try, day after day
To finish all the things you had left to say

Yet you push that china doll away
Even after all those years she didn't stray
She stuck by your side, wiped away your tears
Comforted you through the never ending fears

Place her high on the shelf, so far from you
You never listen now to her little voice so true
She's calling out, to save you one last time
Stop you from committing your first and only crime

But you don't listen anymore
Not with mummy and daddy arguing outside your door
This time you wont just sing this final song
You'll finish this moment, and show them what was wrong

...this is amazing. The symbolism, the rhyme, the imagery...I can't begin to list it all. This is my favorite piece of yours so far. I love the change from beginning to end.

Great job, keep up the writing and don't stop.
