Hurting Heart

by JEFF   Feb 8, 2008

This poem was written on the off chance of what might happen in my life. My girlfriend is in college and headed to medical school, and there is a slight chance I might not be able to go with her. That I might have to WAIT. Waiting sucks, when your in love.

My heart broke today,
As you walked out the door.
My blood not circulating,
As I fell to the floor.

This pain I feel,
Deep down inside.
My emotions overflow,
As I try hard to hide.

All at once,
realizing you're gone.
Never coming back,
You're moving on.

Going through the house,
Breaking everything that was ours.
As my heart really hurts,
And developing scars.

Releasing my anger,
On photos of you.
Setting them on fire,
Ripping them in two.

Looking at the phone,
As it begins to ring.
Waiting on the caller ID,
Not doing a dam thing.

Seeing your name appear,
Across the answering machine.
I just want to pick it up,
And go off, just scream.

Pressing the phone,
Up against my ear.
Listening quietly,
Just shedding some tears.

You say this is something,
That you really want to do.
You say you'll be back,
You say "I Love You".

But waiting four years,
And not having you around.
Telling you I'm cut deep,
In this heart that does pound.

It took thirty years,
To find the love of my life.
Wanting you around,
Wanting you as my wife.

But if I must wait,
Four more years to have you.
Then I must say,
"Four years is what I'll do".
