Never Had A Chance

by JEFF   Feb 14, 2008

I had a heart positioned in the sky, just for you today,
But never got a chance to show you, the wind carried it away.
I found a perfect chocolate bunny for you, left in my car all day,
Forgot about the swelter, and the sun slowly melted it away.

Placed my order for two dozen roses, about twenty four days ago,
Called to see what time they'll arrive, to my dismay no one knows.
Looking out my office window, a building on fire has my attention,
Turning on the T.V. to find, that was the restaurant I had reservations.

Leaving work happy, as I prepare for this night, hoping things improve,
Arriving at my car, which had been keyed, with a really deep groove.
Reaching your house unscathed, as I'm anticipating your soon arrival,
Sitting there in the drive way, for one, two, three, four hour intervals.

I take leave of this day as it's a complete bust, and just head on home,
I notice my girlfriend's car in my driveway, my eyes light up begin to comb.
This day has not gone well, as I walk in the front door, seeing your face.
She says, "Were have you been? I've been looking all over the place".
