Superman Should Back Up His Words...

by ABake   Feb 16, 2008

"I promise to be here, I'm going to be your Superman"
I remember when you first said those words now I am-
Watching the sunset, muttering your dumb lies to the breeze,
Listening as waves hit the shore and crash slowly at my feet;
Imagining what it would be like if you backed up your words-

"We will fly away, just you and me, so will you be mine?"
Of course I would, I had waited what seemed like forever;
Pain fresh in my heart, I was knee deep in murky water,
The only light left was the reddish pink of a depressive sun-
Still I dared myself to do it, no matter what the risks were

"I won't go anywhere and baby thats my word to you"
In return, I told you words never mean what we want...
Now that I look back, I've never been so right in my life;
Baby tell me where are you? Sure the hell not with me,
As much as I'm trying to hide it, my heart is hurting badly

I've run out of your lovely lies to repeat to this breeze;
By now they are about as tired of hearing them as I am,
Funny though isn't it, now those words I actually believed-
Mean completely nothing to you, my only Superman...
Staring into blackness I turn to my last resort: Paper.

    So basically the title was amazing .. as usual! Its so fun to read poetry that reflect flawlessly with its title. You started off so strong with such beautiful imagery and strong emotions that I was mesmerized. Each line was better then the next and the words you choose to write just completed each message. I think as the poem progressed .. your flow become a bit rocky foe me but the ending was just flawless so it made it complete for me. Overall an amazing write that I could relate with ... esp. the part of telling all his lies to the breeze .. flawless. Well done *5/5*
