Memories That Fade Like Photographs

by Alexandra Jade Brewer   Feb 22, 2008

I look through the glass
Stare down at a face
The contours of each line
To perfect to trace

I implant to my memory
Remember every little curve
Fearing the loss
Wanting to preserve

Stamped upon my vision
A sight to stunning
An image so real
I begin running

I reach your side
Beg to hear your voice
Why won't you speak?
Is this your cruel choice?

I plead with your image
I want to hear you sing
But your mouth remains shut
It's too painful a sting

I fall to the ground
My soul morbidly laughs
Your voice is a memory
That fades like photographs

It can't be implanted
I can't remember the sound
It faded away
When the wind came 'round

This was a really good poem. There was a few flow problems, but other than that I really enjoyed it. Your rhymes were not cliched which I really liked. 5/5
