Make-Believe Scenarios Only Cause HeartBreak

by ABake   Feb 24, 2008

Reality: You`re really leaving this time
Make-Believe: You`ll walk through that door tonight and kiss me gently.

Closing my eyes I daydream of silly make-believe scenarios. You know the ones where you come and sweep me off my feet? Those are the ones; Honestly, daydreaming is my way of pretending the truth is not actually true-

I know, I know it`s a horrible habit but it`s one I can`t manage to break. You can`t pretend everything is okay, because if I could these tears falling down my face would also be make-believe. But they aren`t.

Trying to keep the thought of you leaving out of my mind; But for some silly reason it keeps haunting me. Like a big rain cloud right after you washed your car. I could`ve sworn the weather man said there would be no rain today...

Peeking out the window hoping to see your dark blue car pull in the drive way. Now it`s time that I face reality; You`re not coming home tonight. Nor tomorrow or the days of pain that will follow. You are gone...

    - sigh - These words struck a particular chord with me. They were so sweetly written and they just made my heart skip a beat when I read them. A perfect way to begin the poem.
Also, I noticed that your changing your form a little bit in your writing;; Well, I like it. (:

An amazing write, m'dear. Keep it up. Overall: 5.5

Um. WOW. So basically I was blown away.

"daydreaming is my way of pretending the truth is not actually true"
^oh yeah hon. I could totally relate with that lifestyle. I find myself dreaming rather then looking at reality and it could be a good thing but could also be bad.

I loved how you opened it. It was so simple yet profound .. if that makes any sense lol.
The truth you spoke throughout this piece truly touched me because I could relate.

My fave stanza would have to be the 4th one. I loved how you used the simple fact of washing your car only to find out its gonna rain & relating it your situation. I applaud you.

The ending was flawless. It tied everything together beautifully. It was so heartbreaking to finally let reality sink in and finally be convinced he's not coming back .. thats a sad thought. :[

    Beautifully done as always. *5/5*
