Assassin (Fourth Mission)

by JEFF   Feb 29, 2008

Reaching this deprived city,
On the outskirts I stand.
A large town with lots of guards,
Two targets must die by my hand.

I know I have just minutes,
When I begin to sling my blade.
Killing them in the open,
Is the choice I have made.

Buildings so close together,
Supplying me with great cover.
On rooftops I do stand,
Jumping from one to the other.

My first target is a shop owner,
Who has stopped paying for protection.
Failure to give so little,
Results in his assassination.

Sneaking up behind this patron,
No one oversees my attack.
My blade impailed his heart,
I pull it slowly from his back.

Making my way clear of the first,
For the guards will be distracted.
My second target is hard to reach,
For inside those walls he's compacted.

He is a murderer and a small town thief,
In the local prison under tight security.
My time in this town needs to be brief,
One death here already has them uneased.

The easiest and quickest possible way in,
Is to take out ten to twelve guards.
For me to take the life of them unmarked,
Is a life long lesson learned very hard.

This is forbidden among our group,
To kill the innocent is a sin.
So enough about us and our rules,
The death of this man I must begin.

Four guards stepped away from their post,
I took that opportunity to sneak right in.
For the next four guards that stand in my way,
Their paths in life have come to an end.

Two guards left behind a locked door,
Only to watch their friends being slayed.
The only thing left between me and my target,
Is this door and two not well trained prey.

Grabbing the key off one of the dead guards,
Opening the door as one runs straight for me.
Slinging my blade through his chest and back,
My eyes focused on my target as he tries to flee.

Taking the last of the guards down,
I give chase to this desperate man.
He is weak from not eating and easy to catch,
As I sink in my blade and finish my plan.

Disappearing fast so no one gives chase,
People stop and stare at a murderer dead.
I take my leave of this quaint boring place,
Out of this town no more needs to be said.
