It's not because it's Sunday morning
That there are tears now in my eyes
Or even that you're here now
That I now begin to cry

It's not because you've brought me
Tea and toast to have in bed
Or even that you did all this
Before doing your own instead

It's not because of your sweet smile
I see when you wash my hair
Or even those countless special moments
To me you show you care

It's not because you're calm and patient
When I'm in a spiteful mood
Or the way you count from one to ten
Whenever I moan about the food

It's not because you show wisdom
Way beyond your youthful years
Or the way you deal with responsibility
A shining light to all my fears

It's not because your day starts early
And finishes, oh so late
Or the daily guilt that burns inside
Watching a girl's childhood go to waste

Because you are my precious daughter
My love for you is greed
Because you are my only baby
my wounded heart now bleeds

Because you love me without thought
My heart will always cry
Because my only wish for me
Is to swallow these pills and die.

    ^^^these words are so very sad, Michael:(
    After my son was born I never had that wish again. With him I got a feeling of being needed and even though one day, my role will be less important, I would never want to leave him before my time is due. No matter how bad life gets me down.
    You have really upset me with this ending. You should always remember your children see you as their hero!

    ^ thoughtless love is TRUE love. and it is a beautiful, if sad, thing when people think of others selflessly. this was a great poem. so sad. but i could see the image. and the tenderness is beautiful. great job, hun. thank you for the comment on my poem as well.
