Butterflies On Fire

Butterflies On Fire

Wings clipped to match the pattern,
a collection too rare to find . . .
memories within a box,
that'll one day be left behind.

Shadows of doubt to crease the face,
of the one we all once knew,
but somehow he's drifted away,
and with the wind he flew;

each day represents these butterflies,
and one by one they ignite,
into flames of some odd sort,
showing us the light.

Each wing of beauty stands so tall,
like the throne we sat him on -
just to fly away in seconds,
boom, boom - my lover's gone.

Each blink stands for wisdom,
each moment for courage and desire -
he's gone into the wilderness,
like butterflies on fire.

Wow, Teria. You've never let me down on a good poem.
I've been reading poems for like twenty minutes, and I started to think I lost my love for poetry. But really, it just because some people can't write it well.
(Wow, that sounds so mean, but I really don't mean it in a bad way.. you know?)

    But anyways.
Yeah, I think I prefer prose or at least longer lines, but I really enjoyed reading yours. Perhaps it could use a little more emotion/description, but who am I to complain?

All in all, it was beautifully written and I do believe you to be one of the top writers on the site.
Too bad we don't get recognized as such.
    ily.

Ooo, I'm quite fond of this one. A job well done. The metaphors were quite unique along with the title itself. A five from me.

    WOW... that was.. PERFECT.
I loved the whole flow of the poem, each word, and every stanza just seemed to roll right off the tongue, in a very beautiful way.
    Very good metaphors used.
    Definately a favorite!
