Joshua by Gail Poulter

by True Love Never Dies   Mar 24, 2008

Joshua my grandson
A treasure small and neat
I watched you born into this world
Two tiny hands two tiny feet

Your mother she did bare you
With all the pain and grace
A girl herself not knowing
But what a beautiful face

So small and precious
A panic at first
They took you away
In such a burst

To give you life
Is such a joy
You truly are
A beautiful boy

Each tiny little finger
Each tiny little toe
All twenty will not linger
For you have far to go

Someday a lad you will become
With all the joys you seek
Your mum adores you little one
A treasure just four weeks

The days may come the days may go
Each one to you a lifetime
But remember this my precious one
Mummy is your lifeline.

    Another gem. simple, yet enchanting.
I have similar poems that I wrote for my boy (now aged 7) while he lay in hospital for 7 months!

Anyway, a great write. I love these type of poems because I can relate to them so well. It makes a pleasent change from reading all the dark work.
