Where Angels Fear to Tread

by Jemma   Mar 26, 2008

I walk where angels fear to tread and even demons bow their heads
Where night is filled with laughter but in day the world is dead

Where leaves fall to the ground, sighs whispered in the air
Trampled, burnt and tortured as they lay waiting for me there

Life is not for heroes; there's only death, only death
So much that it solidifies as it escapes the cursed man's breath

We're caught in the noose of the damned black sluice
Where sinful temptation sets our wickedness loose

All our earthly pleasures disintegrate before the sun
Let your eyes widen; a new night has just begun

The trees gasp for substance in the smog that we've created
They stand amongst graves long since desecrated

Sanctify my soul, though you know it's already dead
I walk in fearful places where angels dare not tread

My sympathy, and empathy, are with you here....what inspired this sad (and well-written..'-) lament is, I think, an existential sense of despair waiting to be overcome...a universal (yes, I, also, have truly had it) experience called perhaps, 'dark night of the soul'....(of course there IS much to propel one in that direction)
My current view, as you can probably discern, is that there is no place without angels...angels ever ready to be called upon for help....logic promotes the following thought...If demons abound, so then do angels.....Free Will is, I think, deeply involved in potential solutions to any dilemma....and there is much proof for 'as we think, so we become'...

PS....I totally disagree on one point....Life IS for heroes!!...
