Moving On

by Phantom Lord   Apr 4, 2008

Well little johnny was five
when daddy left town
the only goodbye he got
Was son I'll see you around

waiting tables is hard
and the pay isn't hot
and johnny's mother was broke
althought she gave her best shot

when johnny was six
his mama said her goodbyes
with a hug and kiss
she filled his head full of lies

Now when johnny was just twelve
He had his first run in with the law
Bought some crack and robbed that man
From there johnny started to fall

In and out of foster homes
Johnny lost hope
With every passing day
He just couldn't cope

sometimes life gets so hard
you feel you're running in place
and you're searching the stars
for that one smiling face
but then nothing looks back
and the stars fade away
so you're stuck by yourself
and what can you say......
keep on moving on

Now at 18 johnny was a daddy
And he said "mary I'll always be here"
Johnny changed his life around
stopped living in fear

the day james was born
He smiled ear to ear
He said I'm moving on with my life
and I'm so glad to have you here

sometimes life gets so hard
you feel you're running in place
and you're searching the stars
for that one smiling face
but then nothing looks back
and the stars fade away
but you 've just got to keep moving on
Till you find your place
