An angel

by StandStill   Apr 5, 2008

Slippery dreams falling constantly out of reach
tinkling softly on the ground as they break and fall
many little red lines whispering softly, murderer
but these little red lines are murderers of her all

She's trying so hard to let go but hold on
but reality hurts more than their false words and lies
she's sorry, and she's screaming in the silence, but
they don't hear, to hear they'd have to look in her eyes

flashing, blinking, falling, screaming, picking herself up
small and fragile, but nobody will ever really understand
how all she needs when the world is shattering again
is to be able to grab a friends gentle, solid hand

an angel without wings, that's why she fell, you see
and into her head lies are continuosly yelled
she never needed anything to hold onto
she only ever really needed to be held

forever trapped in her own little glass box
no glimmering light wants to set her free
forever doomed to be an angel with burned wings
hidden from the world that will never be able to see

This poem simply amazes me. The wording is incredible and everything seems so far fetched yet it makes complete sense at the same time. The last stanza was my absolute favorite though. I love the way you ended it. 5/5
