For Grampa

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Apr 15, 2008

Go now, to arms
Held out in love.
Fly once more,
On high, above.

Note: This is not, in essence, a poem for grieving. This is the text I thought most fitting to put with my grandfather's wreath after he passed away on 2nd April 2008, age 83. He served in the RAF from 1943 to 1947, as did his beloved wife Audrey, my grandmother. This poem is for remembrance, and for love, and for hope, and for peace; all characterized in these two remarkable and beloved people.

I really like the the image this imprints in your mind of your Grandfather going into the arms of the woman he loved with the reference to his flying days.

*sad smile* I feel your loss. It comes through in the text.
