A Long Kiss Goodbye

A LONG KISS GOODBYE
I came back to the crossroads
Where we left our emotions,
But didnt see the imprints of your naked feet,
On the soft sands.
I crossed the river that hid you away from me,
But met only the sweet fragrance of your absence.
I kissed those faultless lips that adorn your face,
But twas only in the carelessness of my dreams.
I sang you a love note;
A love note draped in the colours of our love,
But it drifted off with the wandering, westerly winds.
I drew an outline of you,
With the patterns of the stars in the nightsky,
But day came too soon, fading you far from me.
I adored the memories of you and me
Under the falling rain,
But time revealed the frailties of my mind.
Fate took you from me a lifetime go,
But Ive laboured to let life live.
I indulged with another like you,
But the feel of her waistbeads
Were nothing like yours.
I saw your face in the colours of the rising sun,
But it did disappear behind the hills.
The nightmare!!
I saw today in the eyes of yesterdays bliss,
But it was a fiery illusion,
That paled under the veil of reality.
Standing at the crossroads where we left our emotions,
I chose a path,
But it was the path that led me away from you.
