LIGHT OF THE NIGHT

by Obirikorang Adu   Apr 16, 2008

Shall I sing of her praise,
Or glorify her grace?
Shall I soothe her with flowery lies,
Or paint her flawlessness in the skies?
I shall speak of her, veiled behind no obscurity,
And reveal to the world of her rarity.
The Earth yearns to feel the tender soles of her feet,
And the silent breeze swirls around her in one blinding sheet.
It’s spring in her presence,
And winter in her absence.
She’s brighter than the sun at noon,
And her aura is like the halo around the harvest moon.
Her shadow is the shade of the night,
And her smile reflects in the gleams of sunlight.
She exposes the frailties of the earth,
And her breathe is the fragrance that fills the dawn with mirth.
The splendor of Nature sinks in the mire of utter oblivion
And the stars dim in dreary vermilion.
The birds of the air sing her name in reverence and in awe,
And the wildflowers blossom to her ardour.
Shall I extol her virtues with passion,
Or applaud her with satisfaction?
I shall speak of her even after nightfall,
And beyond the Great Wall.
22nd August, 2007.
