Secret Within

by Kaitlyn Gilbertson   Apr 17, 2008

Time tick-tocks itself away, as I remain in this solidified place.
Exiled from my world, stuck in a lonely shadow without a hint of light.
The whisper of the nightly wind is my only companion.

Ancient dreams of happiness have faded as sadness has seeped in.
Thoughts of yesterday have turned into fears of tomorrow.
Life is gone as I had once known it, forever misplaced among the confusion.

Concentrating my thoughts back upon past days, another picture is painted.
Not the scene I now hopelessly claim, but a brighter one.
With people, children, smiles, and sunshine, a blissful perfect painting.

But a painting is false, and reality has a hold of me.
Life is life, endings are eternal, this is how it's meant to be.
The only thing a simple girl can't change.
It's destiny.

I loved this. IF your poems were bullets I would gladly play Russian roullette each and everyday. I think you are very talented and unique here at this writers site. There are few that can wield the pen as you show you can. I find your poems to be very refreshing. I can't get over how well you put emotions into words. What more can I say.
