Momma went away

by TheWorldFellNUWerentThere   May 13, 2008

Tommy was just 5 years old,
When momma had to go,
Daddy said they'll meet again,
He promised of that.

That little boy went a searchin`,
For his momma,
He was getting scared,
He hadn't seen her in days.

One morning Tommy's dad,
Had set out his tux and little Tommy's too,
Told Tommy they were going for a ride,
They'll meet momma on the other end.

Tommy dressed with pride,
Filled with happiness,
He's gonna see his momma again,
She'll be waiting for his hug.

The ride from the country to the city,
Was only about an half an hour,
Tommy couldn't wait,
To see momma again.

Cars were lined up for blocks,
Men and women,
Boys and girls,
All dressed in black.

Tommy and his daddy walked into the church and,
Tommy saw his momma laying there,
Her eyes were closed,
People around her grieveing.

Daddy, why are those people crying over momma,
Is she playing in a play,
Is it like Snow White,
Tommy told his dad.

His dad bent down and spoke,
Son, momma passed away,
She went away for a long time,
And when its time for us to meet her,
God will bring us there.
Son, I know its hard for you,
I regret not telling you earlier,
It was mommas time to go,
She had to go meet Uncle Bobby,
Aunt Mary, Sissy and Bubba.
Son, cry, let it out,
But you need to know that,
Momma will be watching overhead,
She never left you,
She's always in there, in your heart,
So when you miss her terribly,
You can feel her in there,
Come, lets go see momma,
Remember always,
She loves you Tommy.

Tommy followed his daddy,
Up to the casket where his momma lay,
Touched her face and told his last words to momma,
I love you forever and always I will always remember you momma.
