An arrows life

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Jun 12, 2008

An arrows life
As I sit here and hope with an ache in my heart
Wishing to be, your chosen shaft
Colourful feathers and patterns abound
But straighter than me, there's yet to be found.

Fletched at the back and bladed in front
For food on your table, there'll be no want
I'm sleek and I'm slender, spined to perfection
When my quarry I've found there'll be no deflection.

As swift as an eagle, as sharp as a claw
When I fly through the air, to my prey I soar
I scream and I shout, in my terrible flight
That I'm deadly as poison, let us not lose sight.

As I am loosed I quiver and shake
Caressed by the wind, Ive thirst I must slake
In my knok, an enormous shove
As I take on the aspect and flight of a dove.

My life is lived in a two second flight
And death is found on the edge of my knife
And though I am sad for this deed I have done
Tomorrow, I'll live again, in the light of the sun.

Grant,This one was so exceptionally well written. I always try to see what I believe the writer sees as he writes .
I am left speechless with this.
    All I can say is:--
Perfection of purpose through the eyes of destruction. Yet remourseful for it's unavoidable act. You express your self so very well, yet I feel I have only touched the surface of this one

Lovely write Grant.Metaphors were great too.Just one correction if you don't mind.......third stanza got too many 'as'.......if you could minus that , I feel the flow would be better.
