Family Reunion - the missing

by Larry Chamberlin   Jun 18, 2008

How is it that you are there and
I am Here and I am not where I would be?
The family gathers, I alone spend these hours
Alone, isolated, cut off - duty bound to strangers.
Even so, mind on fellowship well received,
I feel gladdened, knowing that
Though I am not in the bosom of my kinfolk,
Yet I am, and yet I will be someday.

You who frolic in the waves of the creek, who
Wander in the Lea, Exploring the woods 'round,
Know that I am with you - spirit, even in body -
For your body is mine, with the germ we share;
So I lay full claim to your joys, your songs,
Your toasts round the table and the fire;
And my voice, broken and tone deaf still,
Rises in perfect harmony with your own
However far from me you gather - You Are Home.

    Sounds like a member is missing and every time the family gathers together that person is deeply missed..perhaps a soldier who gave his life for his country..touching.
