Past Reflection

by InTheseHearts   Jul 3, 2008

I keep hearing your voice echo in my ear
I wish all your spiteful words would simply disappear

I gave and gave and all you did was take
Still you say this mess is from my mistake

Your twisted mind tells you that I'm the one to blame
You have it so convinced so that it hides all your shame

Your anger comes rolling out stinging with each word
Silence would be beautiful compared to what I've heard

You take all the pieces you've broken me into
And use them to patch up the missing parts of you

Now the weakest parts of me show plainly through each hole
I never thought that between the two of us, either would play this role

I never knew the line of friends and enemies was so easily crossed
But look at what you've done and now what you've lost

You didn't have the cash to pay a price so high
Now the interest adds up for each little lie

It's time to man up and finally take what's yours
I'm done with being used, tired of being ignored

You may have started this game but I'll finish with the win
I'm done with looking back and seeing what has been
