Addictions

by Nobody   Jul 8, 2008

A strong man was he
a great farther indeed
than one day that all changed

drugs destroyed the man inside
leaving nothing but all the lies
he tried to hide

he ran away
from his family and friends
for he had fallen astray
but the damage did not end

the more drugs he did
the more he became confused
the more drugs he did
more he could not refuse

he became a monster
controlled by his addictions
dealing and wheeling
getting more drugs

forgetting the man he once was
forgetting his family
the hurt he caused
he forgot it all

eyes blood shot red
his soul has bled
from a fight
that cost his life

his family found him one day
after so many months wondering
not expecting to find him this way
they didn't want to find him dying

an addiction
made him loose everything
even his life

I thought i was reading about myself for sec,
I herd pain and understanding in this.
Though i was lucky and pulled myself up and out I still hear it calling me at my darkest moments.
    keep up the good work.

That is very sad. I am sorry that had to happen to your family. I am sure he is looking down on you hoping you don't choose the same path he did.

An amazing write about a sad and painful subject. I feel your pain through your use of emotion. I also like the mixture of three line stanzas and four line stanzas and how well you pulled it off while maintaining flow as well as you did.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Drug addiction is one hell of a battle for someone to fight. I know, I use to have problems with drugs myself and it shows in some of my darker writes. It leaves its mark on everyone it touches.

5/5 Good job, and keep up the good work.

A very sad story im sorry for your loss. They are evil, and if they grab a hold they destroy you. I have written some poems about them iv had experiences with them and they are evil.....You are very talented for a girl your age you write brilliantly. thankyou for your lovely comments i find it easy to write about real things and to be totally honest.
