The Fear of Light (black days)

by alive in death   Jul 26, 2008

We would all like to appear as if we are not what we see
but the image within is not as easily projected
for everything pure in our mind has been repressed
do we go about showing off all our treasures?
and become as the carcass of a goat
ripped apart by the savage lioness
then it becomes leftovers for the runts
all scavengers are searching for something to devour

we are choked off at the throat
till all air is crushed in our lungs
for speaking our minds,
we become some fiend's luncheon
feeding all predators with our views
we try to hide the unwanted display...
"you may now attack"

but at least we tried
for the fires of our souls caught in betrayal
cannot be silenced
lest we com-bust into ourselves

while prophets and preachers the world over
claim to know the answer to rejection
do they know what sacrifice life really takes to become unified?
we must all damn our pride, extinguish our inner light
for we are like the eyes of Satan
full of lust and greed
but beneath all that fire and damnation
even Satan knows
there is no future

fade into the infinite nothingness
