A child for a mother.

by Helene   Jul 26, 2008

She held her baby tight,
She couldn't afford it,
She was all on her own but,
She didn't deserve it.
She knew she was troubled,
And her child would be too,
With no where to live and,
Nothing to do.

He was charismatic,
With ocean blue eyes,
But his masks were merely
A devilish disguise.
She let him in, for somewhere to live,
For her and her baby,
With nothing to give.

Thankful for each night
Her baby was warm,
She never noticed him changing,
Didn't see the alarms,
So he took her soul,
Abused and devoured her,
But she stayed for the baby,
who would grow to become her.

Time went, and another child
Fast on its way,
She paid for his sickness,
Day after day,
Her 2 year old daughter,
now calling him dad,
Didn't know why her mother
was ever so sad.

Years went, and the mother
Grew tired and scared,
She begged him to tender,
but he never cared.
Four children,
And she wished she could just run away,
But a child needs a father,
And for them she would stay.

Now her daughter grew older,
Frightened of life,
Drawing bloody tears in her wrest,
with the kitchen knife.
The mother;
who had given her life for her children,
Breathed for her babies
And couldn't without them.

And now, her sons never really understood her,
But they hated their father,
And grew up to blame her.
The daughter, for whom she had first given all,
Was so like her mother she was destined to fall.

One thing I disagree in.. The daughter, for whom she had first given all, was so like, but Alfie is always there to catch her if she'd fall..
there that was better.. Loved it nevertheless. 5/5.

Outstanding emotional work- I love it - You definitely have my vote! I love the title as well and the bit about for children and how he necer cared...5/5 I'd love to see more- This is now on my favourite poems list - I just love it. It provoked emotion, the structure and layout was incredible and you could relate to this.
