A Breathtaking Ride

by Ray Smallshaw   Jul 31, 2008

The road hedgerow restricts the view of our breathtaking countryside,

Yet it can excite with its gap imposed slide-show,

Flashes of natures colour tinted landscape illuminate the sight,

Sending awe signals to the brain and the desire to freeze frame the moment,

A patchwork of nature and man's architectured fields and trees en-captured in that gap filled sighting,

A flood of colour and textures make one nose the rich ploughed vision,

Curling the toes with an Englishman's pride of his country,

Knowing there is nothing to compare it with in this world,

Grasping the steering wheel in anticipation of the next viewing,

Seeing again that vision from a different angle and freeze framing it to memory,

Who said driving can't be an enrapturing experience?
