It Came To Me Naturally

by Ray Smallshaw   Aug 5, 2008

I never had any lessons it came to me naturally,
So now when I put words on the paper they turn into poetry,
I have studied meter, flow, form and even symmetry,
So now when I look at what I have written I like the words I see,
And do not care what other people think as long as those words please me,

I am now totally hooked as poetry grips my life,
As it contains my emotions, loves and my feelings for my wife,
I try to share my triumphs with those people that I love and those who criticize,
And my words have always come from my heart and are filled with feeling not lies,
So I will keep on writing even though sometimes tears can fill my eyes,

So now when I feel emotional or frustration has set in,
I point my pen to the paper and my writing does begin,
And then as if by magic soon a new poem appears,
To releases all of my frustration and my pain too disappears,
Calming me from my anger as it has done all these years.

You see my poetry is more that an emotional felt expression on a once blank page,
It is my release from from all of life's nasties that inevitably encroach its crazy cage.
