One Hundred Percent of the Time

by Michael D Nalley   Aug 10, 2008

One hundred percent of the time
When I try to write a rhyme
It begins with a single thought
To deal with what time has brought

One hundred percent of the time
Is an idea that is often sublime
That reaches for my very soul
Hard to imagine as a whole

One hundred percent of the time
I always feel like it is a crime
To waste the days that we have spent
Without the hope of an accent

One hundred percent of the time
A heart of stone is crushed to lime
If it believes it is beating alone
The pain forms a life of its own

One hundred percent of the time
The proud spirit dwells in grime
There is no way one can win
Until washed clean from this sin

Prophets are right one hundred percent of the time
I'm a would be poet nothing more than a mime
Repeating what I have read and heard
By those who follow the holy word

One hundred percent of the time
We all must have a mind to climb
Where our wandering hearts will lead
One hundred percent is what we need

I never understood people who said 110% because you can't give more than a 100% and honestly if you feel you can give more then you're not really giving 100% to begin with. I really enjoyed the second last stanza and I thought the words were all to true...very strong finish and definately honest spoken words from the heart. Excellent work 5/5 GG23

Wow, this one actually made me think. At church today we were talking about prophets, and how they were always spreading the truth in God's word. This is a great poem. I like the emotion in it. It's not really sad, but not all the way appy. It gave me the feeling of, curiosity. Everything you've written is true.

I love this part the most. It was a great way to end the poem. And I agree with Bree. This one does feel as if the endings just right. It needs no more, and no less.

    Great Work.

Ooh. I really liked this. I thought the rhymes were excellent, and props for finding that many things to rhyme with "time". Haha.

"One hundred percent of the time

It begins with a single thought
To deal with what time has brought"

-- This was really good. You opened the poem by talking about writing a rhyme. Clever, if you ask me, since you're writing a rhyme as you say it.

"One hundred percent of the time
We all must have a mind to climb
Where our wandering hearts will lead
One hundred percent is what we need"

-- I liked this to ened the poem, too. I feel as though, not only does the piece come to an end, your wrds come to an end. Sometimes, in a poem, the words seem as thought they can continue even though the piece is done.

    Five out of five.
