Loss of control

by Meagan Adelle   Aug 13, 2008

You can't hide from me.
I rule everything, can't you see?
I am the reason for your pain, the reason you no longer dream.
I control your mind, I distort everything you see.
I know everything you are, there's no escaping me.

I am everything you've begun to fear.
I am the sound of self-destruction that's screaming in your ear.
I am your inner demons, the one you see out of the corner of your eyes.
The ones that snarl and grab at you, the ones you can't pass by.
I have now destroyed everything you wished you could be.
Doesn't it piss you off that there's no longer a release to set me free?

And no longer can you escape to the back of your mind.
Go ahead, close your eyes and say you'll be fine.
But I've taken over and will consume you with time.
Find those memories, bring back how you used to feel.
I'll give you flashbacks of the ones you wish weren't real.

Finally you see there's nothing you can do, no escaping me.
And you can cry those tears, it is no longer is a release.
Break and fall to your knees from the agony.
I've destroyed your voice, no one can hear your plea.
I am the voice you hear in your mind.
Your conscience is gone, I've taken over, you're mine.

This was written from my experience with cutting. It can quickly become an addiction, and then it takes over your life. It is real. It is a serious problem. We're not alone.
