The Rewind Button.

by CourtneyyContageous   Aug 23, 2008

Sitting in this chair of pain
The remote within my hand
The only button I don't push
Rewind. And I don't understand.

My finger avoids the button
Memories my head dreads to go
But I want to remember what it was like
To hug you, kiss you, and hold you so

I want to remember
Every dimple in your smile
Every crack in your voice
And your walk down the aisle

Your surprised face to see my mother
How beautiful it was
To see two people come together
In a little thing called love

So here I sit with the wedding tape
Paused, remembering your face.
I press rewind, only to discover.
Everything started, with your smiling face.

This poem is about my daddy,
He died about 2 years ago.
Their wedding night was one of the,
Best times in his life.

I find myself still trying to remember everything about him, and it always comes down to if I want to rewind the tape, and watch our memories again.

R.I.P Daddy.
I miss you, and love you.

Very sad, I'm sorry for your loss. The poem was obviously full of emotion, and under the circumstances it would be horrible if it wasn't. Everyone should write with emotion like this at least once. You did a nice job with this. Good work.
