Behind A Smile

by MyxPeacefulxChaos   Sep 7, 2008

I put a smile on to brighten the room,
While hoping someone will see soon,
The tears i keep hidden as they fall,
Even if my laughter rings through the hall.

As i look to the mirror in front of me,
A painful image is all i see.
An exact and precise reflection,
Of my every imperfection.

I slowly pick the mirror up and bring it to my face,
Its cold and that reminds me of the cynical dreams i chase.
And when i pull the mirror back, i smash it to the ground,
It echoes through my mind, that awfully vexatious sound.

I'm tired of faking this happiness,
Although i do it with such finesse.
This alter ego i've obtained,
Is driving me insane.

Yet i continue to live in perplexity,
While pleading this insanity.
I'll continue living this series of lies,
Until someone hears my mournful sighs.

But for now my cries will go unknown,
My tears continue not to be shown.
My pretense laugh and smile,
Will maintain for quite a while.
