The Angels of the Night

by The Angel of Secrets   Sep 10, 2008

Tales told of long gowns and halos of the light,
Open your arms to the world and you won't have to fight.
Unable to see the battle slowly coming close,
Seeing the world like I do was never something I chose.

Watching happy people coming in and out of my life,
Making sure I'm ready for it, fighting with a knife.
Being angry at people being ignorant to what's there,
Shaking my head slightly, knowing they just don't care.

Living in the moment, never planning what's next,
Seeing what is breathing in the humans unknowing necks.
Giving up in trying to make a blind world see,
Just let me show you the world, what it looks like to me.

Words falling for deaf ears, words they don't understand,
In the darkness, in the shadows, us who can see in silence stand.
Tired of trying to shout, tired of trying to show,
They just don't realize, they just don't know.

Some angels don't wear a gown like the ones up there,
We stand in the moonlight, we're standing right here.
The angels of light don't see, we're the ones that does,
They were handing out fallen hope, I never was.

Standing there, gazing, while the world is falling apart,
Born into the strength that comes with a shattered heart.
Wearing a broken halo, a soul unable to once more fight,
I belong standing in the shadows I am an angel of the night.
