Time bomb

by Thoughtless Consideration   Sep 18, 2008

Man made lightning cracking at the sky,
Full of speeches but unable to answer the question "Why?"
A podium means little to a stomach that's been empty for days,
A chorus of bombs sets us all ablaze.

"Peace" knocked down the door, shot Daddy dead.
Liars raped my mother, as I watched from overhead.
Cupped hands can't hold enough water to quench this undying thirst.
An unwilling child, thrown violently into the conflict, headfirst.

Bullshit oceans away never helped the war in my backyard,
While gun shots and blood-stained memories leave me forever scarred.
Crumbling bricks and a crumbling soul,
Can't escape the fear, can't take control.

School is a luxury I can hardly dream about,
My thoughts have been flooded, drowned out by this drought.
(there's no way out.)
Family-less and penniless and lost in despair
The help you promised never appeared anywhere...

I can't feel my legs and can hardly even crawl,
While you burn your fcking bridges and build that pointless wall.
Pointing your bloody fingers at everyone still won't get us food,
It seems the truth is something no longer pursued...

*i actually wrote this to be submitted as an anti-war piece. it's obviously not about me, thank god.
