The Echo of My Words

by The Angel of Secrets   Sep 19, 2008

I remember tales being told of wars, honor and glory,
Greek goddesses, iron fists, another love story.
Myths being written to provide hope and faith,
Stories of human feelings; love, revenge, hate.

Stories being told to rise awareness among us all,
To see a phoenix rise from the ashes after fall.
Never realizing the stories play out in today's light,
Personal wars, love stories written, just another fight.

Read the stories of the battles and let me welcome you to my world,
Another battle story of a fighting, broken girl.
Destiny of great things, yet born with a broken heart,
An eternal wish for freedom to keep her from falling apart.

Looking at they sky, with eyes blue as the sea,
Whispering softly: "The world shall remember me."
Not because she's special, or because she's all that strong,
But because she never stopped looking for a place where she belong.

Speaking words of wisdom, knowing they do not see,
But long after I'm gone, they will remember me.
The words I speak, the words I write,
They will know of my endless fight.

Time was never my long loving friends,
And I always knew my life was going to end.
Preparing each day with another goodbye,
Knowing that tomorrow might be the day I die.

Read what I wrote as my goodbye to the world,
Remember my blue eyes, hopeful smile and hair in a curl.
Remember me as the story of the great Greek gods,
And that I beat the world, against all odds.

But remember me as you watch the sneaking dawn,
Hear the echo of my words, long after I'm gone.
Remember all the footsteps I left in the sand,
Remember me darling, I'll be seeing you in the wasteland.

Wow!! Very well written. I really loved the way the poem progressed from start to finish, and the way you compared the big picture of the world to that of your life. (5/5)
