Game of Broken Hearts

by Forever Broken   Sep 24, 2008

This pain is just too much
Its more then just skin deep
Im haunted by these memories
I no longer wish to keep

I cant take it anymore
I feel Im drowning in despair
And I refuse to fake a smile
For someone who doesnt care

I should have listened to his warning
He was only looking out for me
But because I thought he was jealous
I forced myself not to see

See that he was right
That it was only because he cared
That he said the guy was using me
To do something that he was dared

Built upon a lie
Thats exactly what we were
You were simply using me
Just to impress her

Impress her in a game
A game I thought was real
These scars prove I lost
And I doubt that they will heal

I will be forced to live with them
Until the day I die
So congrats, you won the game
You finally made me cry

Amazing poem and yet so sad at the same time. It is really so well written that sympathy fills my heart and mind when I think how blind we can become when we think we have found the one. Yet it is always good to know that there are others out there that do care - it depicts that there is some hope in life.
The ending was truly tragic and yet at the same time we have all walked along those lines where the person that we care about just makes us cry.

Excellent work! Keep it up and this does not deserve anything less than 5/5.
