Waiting

Waiting
Eying the time
Will she get there?
She's not worth it
No one would
take time out
to see her

Contradicting
She's fine
She's angry
She's on top
of the world
No one can
catch her
now

Distraction
A thing of
beauty when
it's all you have
Homework suddenly
seems feasible

Slow
Not in the sense
that it's a couple
minutes behind
No, the clock
is literally ticking
slower today

Classes
People, too many
people, she can't
think, they're
all staring
at her, or is
that just selfish thinking?

Second-guessing
Something she does well
Another failing grade
Is she ignorant,
or is she just too lazy?
Maybe she's both
It's too much right now

Overwhelming
Work, socializing
How can both fit in?
No one cares about her
Yet a couple people
waved to her
in the hallway

Racing
thoughts, one thing
after another
never stopping
it's been an hour
It'll never happen,
never. She's just
so worthless she-

"Excuse me, I'm
your school counselor.
Have I kept you waiting?"

"No, not at all"

"Come in to my office
Do you have anything
you'd like to talk about?
Anything on your mind?"

"You have no idea"
