Your Turn To Cry

by Sweet Disposition   Oct 1, 2008

I'm suddenly weakened by your presence
And my anger turns to hurt
My plan is slowly being crushed;
To treat you like you're dirt

My lips part and I try to scream
Try to burn you with my words
But they're trapped in me, they can't be free
They can't soar like the staring birds

My heart can't evoke a feeling
As the tears slide down your face
There's no sympathy inside my soul
No, not even a trace

My eyes gaze at you in disgust
As you beg me not to leave
But I heave my body up to go,
What would staying here achieve?

I take one last, final look at you
And you squeal "this time I'll try!"
So I whisper softly in your ear,
"Baby now's your turn to cry."

I loved the message and emotion you captured with your words in this poem. The last line tied the title in very well. My one suggest would be to do a bit of editing, so that the rhyming isn't quite so forced. You have some great rhymes, but some other ones are a bit of a stretch, just to rhyme, and I think it takes away from the poem a bit. Still some great imagery. well written.
