Surrender

by Jemma   Oct 6, 2008

Peace at a price
Surrender to the whims and dictations of overpowering
Physical and emotional bombardment
Do I surrender or live to fight again?

Oh Surrender!
Tears may bite my eyes
But even through my water gaze I shall watch and wait
Your steady awakening comes with the sunset
Fiery colours blazing across the sky
It rains and it pours, gunfire heading to my heart
Little breaks are beginning to show
I wonder do they know I'm bleeding
Should I show them I'm bleeding?
Crimson red over this flawed white flag
Oh, surrender! Surrender
Peace at a price

Let's never give in!
Let's give them one hell of a show!
The sunrise creaks with the doors pushed wide
The light begins to form and focus
Heading down into the pool of this shrine
For this people are holy and divine
For in them lies the human spirit
Let's give it to them
When the shadows hearken
Let's drive them home!

Oh Surrender, the dark is all consuming
And they shade our merry band
Our fisted hands break apart in wonder
For the noon is high and the sky is blue
And the night is far from our minds
A sorry sight, so many shadows bent in betrayal
For do they not surrender when a move is made?
Does not a mere candle make them flee?
Give not to them the ways to watch us
Give them not the heart to strike us
For we shall be the master of the light and shadow play

Oh surrender, surrender! Do you dare to?

For I see our fear in their eyes
What is it they believe in?
It must be of great import if they are prepared to die for it
Shameful that surrenders call for the lack of purpose
Is our death not worth the victory of a many splendid suns?

Oh Sacrifice!
Peace at a price
