A Vampire's Kiss 2

by Jemma   Oct 15, 2008

Three years on and I remember
The night that changed my world.
The prince of darkness came,
Took me away and into darkness I was hurled

Whilst many I left searched on
I walked alone in my tower,
Watching the stars in outer space.
Scared of my growing power

My captor explained what happened,
Why I felt queasy in light,
He told me why he took me
All alone in the middle of the night.

He taught me to transform my figure
Into wolf, into smoke, into bat
To think of myself as unliving
And I couldn't argue with that

As weeks passed by I grew stronger
My thirst could not linger inside
My prey fell to the ground.
People learnt to fear me the moment they died

But you did not.

You knew what I was yet came looking
You recognised my mistakes from before.
You came to offer me freedom
And came battering at the castle door

You think I could not refuse?
Have you learnt nothing of this?
I ask you a simple question
Could you resist a vampire's kiss?

**This is a reworking of a poem I wrote in 2004, after the suggestion that I ought to make it rhyme. Despite my grumbling on the matter I have amended it, and although it is no longer to my taste I do feel it is better than the original which can be found here: http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/dark/poems.php?id=220741**
