Dreaming Eyes

by AmberSherrellxxIve Been Sitting Here Trying To Find Myselfxx   Oct 22, 2008

A cold wind blows through the window,
And a shiver snakes down my spine.
I stare at the clock blankly,
Wishing to speen up the time.

I hear your truck rumbling,
As you pull in to my yard.
I look out the window to see you,
But to me your still too far.

I yank my jacket off the hook,
Stumble around for my purse.
So disoriented in this feeling,
Yet loving this crazy curse.

I rush out the door to meet you,
Where you're leaning against your hood.
You wrap your arms around me,
Just like I knew you would.

I rest my head against your chest,
Listening to your hearts steady beat.
I take a deep breath very slowly,
As you start to shift your feet.

"Sorry but I got to go."
There's a numbness in your voice.
I stare up in horror when you say,
"I really have no choice."

Your lips touch mine briefly,
Then you swiftly walk away.
I feel my heart shatter completely,
Sweetie, why couldn't you stay?

"Amber, wake up.", I hear a different voice.
I look up to see Caleb and noticed all the noise.
I take a deep breath, feel the moisture on my cheek,
Wipe away the tears that my dreaming eyes had leaked.
