Underneath It All

Beneath the exterior
Of everything I pretend to be
Theres a girl who wishes
That someone would set her free

Shes trapped deep inside my heart
Caged by all the pain
Shes tried so many times to escape
But her efforts were in vain

Theres no way she can escape
With out someone to love her
But no one knows she needs love
Underneath her hardened cover

This mask that she hides behind
Has kept her locked up for too long
She needs someone to hold her tight
And to tell her that nothings wrong

When the world feels like its ending
And whats left of her heart breaks
Maybe people will start to realize
All of their wounding mistakes

But for now she will stay hidden
Deep in the cage within my heart
But she can only stay so strong
Before she starts to fall apart
