I Lay Here With You Until The Final Goodbye.

by Courageous Dreamer   Nov 8, 2008

`*Written for a Contest.*`
This is not what I'm feeling nor experiencing at the moment.

I lay here with you tightly grasping your fragile hand,
terrified to let go and face this world on my own without you.
Holding you close I feel the comfort and warmth of your soul,
yet while you slowly drift away, coldness becomes the replacement,
leaving my body deserted, stiff, and hidden in the darkness.

Your presence will no longer reside next to me from this day on,
instead it will be far into the distance, light will no longer shine bright.
The smile that was present everyday, will be removed from my face.
The absence of the one I once loved will be missed so dearly,
as my heart will be left with nobody to love or share memories with.

Love will not fill the air I breathe, all oxygen will escape from my lungs,
and I'll choke on my very last breath, the last second of my life.
Continuously, I'll struggle until I can longer take it anymore.
Leaving you was the last thing amongst my many intentions,
but this is our tearful goodbye, it's final, and it will be forever.

    Temps,

there is so much pain here. Pain with the vivid desciption of the terrible loss of life of one so small, so fragile. Then more pain as the the loss torments you. The memory of the death haunts you, preventing any sence of healing to occur. Finally the pain takes another fragile soul, now demented and ready to leave this cold world that never warmed, not since cold pain filled it.

Well done, so very painful, so very good!

This piece is absolutely wonderful. It's been a while since I've read something from you. The title so perfectly fits what you've written, and every word is beautiful. I like how you not only focused on the fact that you're losing love, but how it's making you feel. It was an extremely emotional piece, and you've done a great job.

    Five out of five. [5/5]
