Twirl, Twirl One Last Time.

by BlueEyedMystery   Nov 19, 2008

Step up and take this dance,
press my body close to yours.
twirl..
twirl..
twirl..
As my eyes catch a glimpse of hers.

Flinch away, accusing eyes.
I never was good at sharing.
twirl..
twirl..
twirl again..
I guess this is what you get for caring.

But my body sways next to yours,
so close, not even air could pass.
and twirl..
twirl..
twirl again..
Knowing this dance could be our last.

The hypnotic music fades out.
People around us stop to see.
as we twirl..
twirl..
twirl again..
How could you ever love anyone but me?

The dance comes to an end,
and our bodies split apart,
but twirl..
twirl..
twirl..
goes my frantic, beating heart.

But that heart almost dies,
when she steps in my place.
and twirl..
twirl..
twirl..
You both dance at a fluid pace.

Her hand in yours,
your eyes on her.
twirl..
twirl..
twirl..
Moving by in a blur.

Walking away, tears in my eyes.
Feet taking me away fast.
twirl..
twirl..
one last time..
Knowing that dance was our last.
