He Put Your Love On A Shelf (contest)

by SashaMirage   Nov 29, 2008

He is a pirate who sails the seven seas.
Living only for the moment, enjoying the breeze.

He brings his ship to your harbor,
What a lovely place.
Your thoughts mean nothing,
your just a pretty face.

From country to country he sets sail.
Leaving you to wonder where did you fail?
Never knowing why he doesn't take you aboard.
He owns your heart, attached to a cord.

If he loved you then why did he leave you here?
Why can't he take you; what does he fear?
Do you embarrass him, is that what he thinks?
His boat's torn yet he sails while your heart sinks.

Why do you wait, obviously he cares so little.
Oh, its a mystery; theres no answer to this riddle.
What fun he must be having, while your by yourself.
He took your love and put it on a shelf.

He knows that you'll be waiting for him to return.
Must you drown in love before you'll ever learn?

This poem has so much feeling. It felt that i was the one who was being left by, in your words, a pirate. Even though i am a guy.....

    `you're

Wow this poem was very well written. You portrayed the sad feeling well, and used the title very well. I was extremely impressed with the flow of this piece, hte rhyme was consistant and everything else just flowed so nicely together as one. There was one point where I kinda had to stop a little.. I think it was because you should have had a comma instead of a period... but I'm glad you used puncuation it helped the flow as well.. and its something that every poem should have.
