A Long Hard Slog

by Jemma   Dec 28, 2008

It's been a long hard slog from sleep
Hiding from the holes I've punched in my self-esteem
I can hear all the barbs pouring in
I need to bail out and keep myself floating,
Even though I know I'm going to sink.

I must stay fighting.
Even when I see the monsters in the nightmares
As the sun begins to fade
Shadowing their faces with their sinister smiles
It makes me cringe and grimace
As I see the love and friendship lost in the creases of their smile
