Parking Lot

by Melissa   Jan 21, 2009

I saw a young girl today,
probably about twelve
and budding with all the curiosities of life-
but not quite sure which flower
to bloom

I know, I've been there...

With lily-white petals
as fragile as time,
heart humming
like a daisy
beneath the dandelion lavaliere
pressing carelessly against my golden flame
that flickered wildly
in all it's awkward allure

it soon doused all shoots
of maturing
a proper floret

perhaps she won't be so dithering
and her blossoms
will bear completeness
or sprout little dreams
of roses

that tolerate thorns
