Country Life (Mini-monoverse)

by Sylvia   Jan 23, 2009

Rivers flow
currents know
where to go.
Winds do blow,
leaves aglow.

Trees quiver,
birds shiver,
winds deliver,
wood sliver.
City liver.

The Mini-monoverse is a poetry form originated by Emily Romano. Each Mini-monoverse is made up of two stanzas of five three-syllable lines. The rhyme scheme is a/a/a/a/a for the first stanza and b/b/b/b/b for the second stanza. For a double Mini-monoverse just add two more stanzas. They rhyme scheme for the third stanza should be c/c/c/c/c and for the fourth stanza, d/d/d/d/d. It is desirable that the Mini-monoverse tell a story, but this is not a hard and fast rule.

I love your thirst to try out new forms every time ... a true poet indeed ... and each time you come up with such brilliant work ... really thanks for sharing ... its such a great help for amateurs like me :)

I felt the motion in each line... I guess you were writing about the winds ... and with it each object was moving ...

    beautiful write :)

Country Life, i love it. I hate it too sometimes, but when i consider all things, it wins out in the end. Yeah, i enjoy things in the city, im a shopaholic, but its always nice to come back to the country at the end of the day. Where no loud noises exist, where nature is at its best.
Your poem described it so beautifully, it was amazing. I really liked the form too, it was an interesting one, indeed.
    Really nice write :]

    Nice format, Silvia!

    Ah yes...country life:)
I have lived in the city for a long time now, but my heart remained in a little place called "Zevenhuizen", translated that means: seven houses, lol. When I lived there, there were indeed only a few houses, such a small village it was. Me and my brother were very happy there. We played outside always, on the dusty roads, barefoot and happy:)
I hope to be able to return to the county side one day.

    Hugs,
