Valentines Day Never Felt This Lonley

by Ixora   Jan 29, 2009

It was funny to me then,
I laughed so hard I cried.
The last touch was on my cheek
Wiping away the only tear that fell
But..
Why so sad now?
You seemed satisfied
Lingering on memories
That never performed at higher peaks
Than your silly stories.

"Valentines day never felt this lonely"
You said to the hairs on my back,
But your disappointment just makes my skin crawl
It's not like we weren't watching the clock
For the next shadow of a doubt
Feeding it slowly so we could play
Like misbehaved school girls.

I like birds sometimes when they let me fly
At least far enough to be out of your reach.
Yes, my pedestal is comfortable.
Still yours was higher,
And I cried so hard I laughed.

"Life is so full of hypocrites"
He said with a shake of the head
And threw me against the wall
It was moments like that I knew
We fit.
Like the shoreline and the sky
You can,
Bite my neck as much as you like
Just don't kiss any lips while I'm swimming.
Pretending is not quite your virtue
When we all admit we know
Absolutely nothing about love.

Dearly Beloved
Cupid
